1. Skimming and Scanning
Skimming and Scanning can help you know a general idea of the passage. This two steps is very recommended before you start doing the reading test. Some people can answer some questions without reading the whole passage. When you scan and skim, you should underline any key words or sentences since it can help you find answers quickly afterward.
2. Do not try to understand the whole passage
Remember that your job is only to find the right answer. Locate the right information as quickly as you can because you have limited time. Only questions like selecting the best title and matching headings require you to read more from the passage.
3. Always learning vocabulary
No one knows every vocabulary since he or she was born. The more you know vocabulary, the more you can understand the passage. Knowing vocabulary is not only about the meaning of the words but also learning when you can use those words and what their synonyms are. For example, you will use “take a photo’ not “take a painting”.
4. Key Words
You will find key words in each question and you should use those key words to find the answers from the passage. Do remember that key words can be translated for example; the question uses “approach” and the passage uses “method”.
Questions like summary completion and sentence completion or conclusion sometimes require your grammar skill. The right grammar can help you state the right answer in short time.

If the question is about vocabulary then learn more vocabulary. If you get your answer wrong because you cannot find the information then the problem is your technique. After knowing your failure, spend time do more practice.
